About

Farming with the seasons, growing natural fibre in Perthshire, Scotland.

Established in 2023, Perthshire Wool celebrates the diversity of wool and the sheep that produce it here in heartland of Scotland.

Based near the village of Madderty, in the beautiful Strathearn Valley, and 12 miles from the historic city of Perth, we run a flock of 500 breeding ewes, including white and black Cheviots, Scottish Blackface, Scotch Mules, Texel crosses and pedigree Beltex.

We produce a range of wool from our own flock and source quality fleeces from local farmers. All our wool is processed in the UK. From Perthshire's fields to you, our wool is traceable at each step of its journey. We also use recycled or recyclable, biodegradable packaging for all our products.

Why wool? Sheep's wool is a natural, renewable and compostable fibre. It has many incredible properties and uses. Working with wool in the processes of making also has may social and well-being benefits. Sheep need to be clipped at least once every year, making sheep's wool a naturally regenerative fibre.

Perthshire Wool aims to contribute to a sustainable fashion industry. We also seek to use all wool, from hill to lustre fleeces, reflecting the range of sheep breeds and wool clip harvested in Perthshire and the UK. We believe that all wool has a purpose and a context for use, from clothing and home materials to nourishing plants and the earth. In this way, we support the full cycle of wool in a holistic farm and fibre economy. By working with sheep and local farmers in Perthshire, we also hope to grow and connect farm and fibre folk in our community and further afield through the diversity and versatility of wool.
